Bill Maher: The difference between George Bush jokes and the conservatives disrespect for Barack Obama.
“I’m not talking about mere words uttered hundreds of miles away… I’m responsible for numerous insults to George W. Bush…
- Rube
- Cypher
- Shit kicker
- Yokel on the world stage
- Catastrophe that walks like a man
- The cowboy from Toy Story
- Drinky McDumbass
- President Larry the Cable Guy
BUT I DIDN’T CALL HIM THAT TO HIS FACE! Nor would I if I had a chance. And that is the difference. The deal we’ve always had with presidents. We smile and talk nice to them when they’re in front of us and then we cut them down and say horrible nasty things behind their backs.
But there’s something about this president that makes republicans think it’s ok to go ape shit in his presence. They didn’t do this to Carter, an actual pacifist. Or Clinton who actually had a plan for Universal Healthcare. Or LBJ who actually made it easier for poor people to vote and eat. But, at least to their faces, they got treated with a modicum of respect. But not Obama…
What could it be about Obama that’s different? Hmmm…”
